Cappelli, Jackson from WT6 Win Walleye Madness Mosquito Lake Presented by Buckeye Sports Center

Cortland, Ohio, April 26WalleyeMadness, 2016—Sam Cappelli and Ted Jackson lead the way to capture the first event of the season on Mosquito Lake. “It feels great to come out on top against so many great fisherman”, said Cappelli.

“It feels good to have our program come together.”

A sold-out field of 42, two-person teams competed on Mosquito Lake on a picturesque day. Sunday was quite different than previous days. Anglers had to adjust their fishing styles to stay on the bite.

“It’s a satisfying feeling,” added Jackson. “We got the right bites today.”

Cappelli and Jackson sacked a 5-fish limit weighing in 15.25 pounds. Anchored by the big fish of the day, the nearest team was nearly 3 pounds away.

They focused their morning jigging in 4’-6’ of water on the south end of the lake where they caught 3 nice keepers. After the jig bite slowed they switched gears to trolling the north end of the lake. Reef Runner Mini-Reefs and #5 Berkley Flicker Shads behind leadcore, focusing on 12 feet of water at a speed of 2.3 was key as they were able to upgrade 2 fish.

Cappelli and Jackson collected $2850 in winnings, including the $2650 first-place cash award plus the $200 Buckeye Sports Center Big Fish bonus.

All the teams placing used different techniques to catch their fish. Second Place team of Erb and Murphy jigged up a nice bag of 11.90-pounds. Erb and Murphy collected $1600 in winnings, $1300 for second and $300 for being the highest finishing Lund Boat. Third Place team of Allshouse and Dailey trolled their way to a total check $1150. They were also the highest finishing Mercury equipped boat good for $200. Matt Cook and Chris Jordon pulled worm harnesses to capture Fourth. Anthony Naples and Chris Durkin rounded out the top 5.
