Van Dyke, Carlson Win Cabela’s National Team Championship

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.—August 26, 2013—Michigan’s Wayne Van Dyke and Erich Carlson survived a comeback attempt by fellow Wolverines Dennis Lantzy and Steve VandeMark to win the Cabela’s National Team Championship walleye tournament in front of a large crowd gathered along the St. Marys River at William Gregory Park Aug. 24.

“It was an emotional rollercoaster,” said Van Dyke, of Spruce. After amassing a cushion of more than eight pounds on the first two days of the three-day event, held Aug. 22-24, they faltered on the final day, while Lantzy and VandeMark pressed hard on their heels. TWF NTC Qualifier

Registration Information:

Location: Menominee Marina, 920 Doyle Drive, Menominee, Michigan
Date: Saturday, September 7, 2013
Registration will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. CST.  The rules meeting will follow at 5:30 P.M CST.

** At least one member from each team must attend the MANDATORY rules meeting!
**Teams must be off the water by 4:30PM

Launch/Weigh-In Information:

Anglers Boat checks will also be done at Menominee Marina Menominee MI. prior to launching. Fish size: 15″ and over. Teams are allowed 6 fish in the livewell and are able to weigh 3 fish per team per day. Number of lines: Three lines with a single lure or bait on each are permitted. Culling is not allowed. Once the 6th fish is placed in the live well, you are not allowed to keep any more fish that day.

The DNR has revised the tournament waters as follows:  REVISED TOURNAMENT BOUNDARIES:  The tournament area in Wisconsin waters to include the area south of a line due west from Gills Rock to the Wisconsin state line, and the area north of the Oconto River south breakwall extending across Green Bay to Henderson Point in Door County.  A northern boundary within Michigan waters that extends east from Rochereau Point to the state line.  

Weigh in times and location: The first flight will be due in at 2:00 pm and weigh in will be at Menominee Marina, 920 Doyle Drive, Menominee, Michigan.
