Rough and tough conditions at the Cabela’s, Crown Battery, Sharpnack Direct, Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) second 2013 tournament hosted by Waldo Peppers Restaurant.

After two straight days of 30 knot winds that caused the postponement of the tournament to Sunday, anglers were greeted with muddy water, cold temperatures, rapidly rising barometric pressure, and brisk east-northeast winds. “What a difference three weeks makes” said LEWT tournament Director Joe Yingling. “The last tournament we had perfect weather with sunny skies and calm winds, the requirement of dealing with these different conditions is what makes walleye tournament fishing such a challenge.” Continue reading

3rd Cabelas qualifier – June 21st Lake Winnebago out of Calumet County Park near Brothertown WI

4th Cabelas qualifier – July 21st Green Bay out of Breakwater Park in Oconto WI

 

Stuefen, Holten Win Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s Detroit River Tournament

Trenton, Mich.—April 14, 2013—After taking the lead on the first day of competition with a record-breaking 49-pound, 10-ounce basket, Iowans Marty Stuefen and Carl Holten hung on to win the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s Detroit River and western Lake Erie tournament at Trenton, Michigan.

“It’s an awesome feeling,” said Holten, of Harpers Ferry. “We were in first place on Day One and managed to bring it home.” The team’s monstrous first-day catch made MWC history, eclipsing the Circuit’s all-time single-day basket record of 48.95 pounds, set by Jason Kopf, of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Mike Miller, of Brunswick, Ohio.
