Budget Law Will Freeze Sport Fish Restoration Fund

Unprecedented move will impact economy and fisheries conservation

Alexandria, VA – September 24, 2012– On September 14, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released its recommendations for budget cuts that include withholding parts of the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, a move that would have a significant impact on fisheries conservation and the jobs it supports. OMB’s action was triggered by the failure of the Congress and the Administration to enact a plan to reduce the deficit by $1.2 trillion, as required by the Budget Control Act of 2011. Diegel, Steffen Win Second Straight Cabela’s MWC Cass Lake Tournament

SEPTEMBER 15, 2012—CASS LAKE,MN—The Pierre, South Dakota, team of Travor Diegel and Paul Steffen weighed in 32.88 pounds to win top honors and $13,300 in cash at the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s Cass Lake tournament.

They brought in a Cabela’s MWC 10-fish limit to top the field of 82 two-person teams competing in the two-day event. The win earned them the $13,300 first-place cash purse, plus $1,000 from the Ranger Cup Program, a $1,000 Cabela’s gift card from the Cabela’s Angler Cash program, $500 Lowrance HDS Bonus, $500 in Berkley products for being the highest-finishing team using Berkley Baits, a pair of Okuma Dead Eye rod-and-reel combos worth $350, and U2 Bonus worth $60 in U2 product. Giuliani Brothers Score Repeat Victory At Cabela’s MWC St. Mary’s River Tournament

AUGUST 25, 2012—SAULT STE. MARIE, MI—Brothers Joe and John Giuliani notched an impressive repeat victory at the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit’s St. Mary’s River tournament.

The hard-fishing twins, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, weighed in nine fish weighing a total of 36.74 pounds to top the field of 62 two-person teams competing in the two-day event. The win earned them the $11,100 first-place cash purse, plus $1,000 Cabela’s gift card from the Cabela’s Angler Cash program, $500 Lowrance HDS Bonus, $500 in Berkley products for being the highest-finishing team using Berkley Baits, and U2 Bonus worth $60 in U2 product.
