The Ohio Walleye Federation – Mosquito Lake (Qualifier #1) Results

Streetsboro, OH – April 18, 2019
The temperature was forecasted to be cloudy, with a high near 67°. This turned out not to be the case. Miserable weather conditions plagued anglers during the Ohio Walleye Federation’s (OWF) first qualifier at Mosquito Lake. Despite the high winds, cold temperatures and rain, it did not affect the 38-boat field when it came to catching walleyes. Many anglers were able to capitalize on the strong walleye bite before the crashing cold front that shut down the bite, shortly after sendoff.
The team of Chase Cominsky and Jeff Stitt won the tournament with an impressive 5 fish limit weighing 17.09 lbs. Cominsky & Stitt were jigging newly emerging weeds in 2-4 FOW, along with dead-sticking creek chubs. The team of Anthony Naples and Gary Gaca were in 2nd place jigging up a limit of fish weighing 15.29 lbs. The 3rd & 4th place teams of Travis & Papalia (14.03lbs) and Cook & Fitzgerald (13.27lbs) were trolling leadcore, with flicker shads, in 16-20 FOW. Rounding out the top 5 was the team of Erick Williams & Sam Cappelli that were pumping Vib-E’s in 18-22 FOW for a 13.05 lb bag. For more results, visit https://www.fishowf.com/2019-results.
