By Tournament Director, Chuck Pavelka

Nebraska walleye Associations last tournament of the year was held on Merrit Lake August 6-7.  Day one was an open tournament where 41 teams fished and caught 40 fish. The winning team of Green and Green had 13.01 pounds.  The pair caught their fish in the main lake on crank baits.

The second place team of Roland and Roland caught 10.77 pounds by casting jigs and slab where Snake River joins the lake.

The second day was the state championship where the Nebraska Walleye Association and Nebraska Walleye Trail meet for the second year.  The Nebraska Walleye Trail team of Reglin and  Vinzant came out on top with 13.49 pounds; they caught there fish up in the Snake River. Second went to Thielen and Thielen with 8.85 pounds.

It was a tough bite the whole year, but anglers caught enough weight to earn team of the year honors.  This year, the top spots went to the team of Hettler and Shada followed by Anderson and Green.
