Nebraska Walleye Assocation Lewis and Clark Results

Lewis and Clark Day 1 and 2

IMG_4112Day 1 at Lewis and Clark had a 30 boat field and the bite was absolutely on fire.  Fish were caught anywhere and everywhere.  People were live baiting and pulling plugs to bring their 5 fish limit.  The team of Block and Hoppe brought in a 5 fish limit from the river that went right under 20lbs, they also won big fish and Cabela’s Angler’s Cash. to win day 1.  Shada and Hettler took second, Kallhoff brothers took third and 4th place went to the team of Ulrich and Neiman.  Day 1 winners of the TWF side pot went to Royer and McCallister.  John and Jim with their TWF win get a free entry to next years NTC, NTC qualifier plaques and a gas stipend.  When all was tallied the 1st through 4th place teams cashed checks and contingency monies for over $5000.00.  Good job to these teams. HURON TOURNAMENT IS WALLEYE MADNESS

Unseasonably cold temperatures and waters that were roiled by a hard blow the day before faced the 44 two-angler teams entered in the Walleye Madness Tournaments event held on Saturday, May 25th on Lake Erie out of Huron, Ohio.

Arguably the greatest walleye fishery in North America, even Lake Erie can nearly be shut down by the combination of post cold front conditions and turbid waters that create extremely tough fishing conditions. “That’s a big part of the challenge of tournament fishing” stated John Csizmadia, the director of Walleye Madness Tournaments. He added, “It’s not about fishing under perfect conditions when the bite is on. Tournament fishing is about having to perform no matter what. Even under the toughest of conditions fish can and will be caught and this event proved no different.” Continue reading

Fishing is Fun! in Nebraska holds tournaments

DSCF1648The Nebraska Walleye Association Kids Fishing Clinics Charity, Inc. held the 1st & 2nd tournaments of 2013 on May 18 & 19 at the Lewis & Clark Reservoir near Crofton, Nebraska. The 3rd & 4th tournaments of the year will be held on July 13th & 14th at the Harlan County Reservoir near Republican City, Nebraska.

This organization is a 501 (c) (3) public charity that promotes fishing education and conservation in Nebraska.  Fishing is Fun! is the catch phrase used to conduct 15-20 kids fishing clinics across the state.  Each participant receives hands on fishing instruction from state certified volunteers and is given a free rod/reel/tackle box combination to take fishing.  At least two of these clinics are held for special needs youth and their families.  Approximately 2000 youth annually participate in these clinics which are at times held in partnership with other outdoor youth organizations.  These kids clinics began over twenty years ago by the Nebraska Walleye Association, a members organization.  In 2012 the NWA Kids Fishing Clinics Charity was formed as a separate organization to provide a greater opportunity in obtaining funds for the kids clinics.  Continue reading
