Press Release for the Ohio Walleye Federation Qualifier #2

Thirty-one teams competed on Berlin Lake during the Ohio Walleye Federation’s second qualifying event sponsored by Ravenna Marine. Teams were challenged with a very tough transition bite coupled with high winds and dropping water levels. Teams adjusted from looking for quality fish to settling with anything over the minimum length limit of 15in with 1/4 of the field zeroing and over half of the field not weighing a 5 fish limit. Collin Murphy and Jay Dossi brought the heaviest weight of the day to the scales with 11.15lbs anchored by a 3.35lb big fish earning them 1st place and the $2500 first place prize. Murphy/Dossi caught their fish jigging with Knuckleball Jigs and night crawlers in 3-6ft of water. Most of the other teams in the top 10 also caught their fish jigging worms in water 2-8ft deep. Best performing colors were said to be chartreuse, orange and firetiger. The team of Wellner & Rhodes tied Murphy Dossi for big fish with a 3.35lb walleye caught trolling harnesses suspended 5ft below the surface.

The next OWF tournament will be the Inland Lake Championship which will be a two day tournament held on two different lakes. Day 1 Lake Milton on June 1st and Day 2 on Mosquito Lake on June 2nd. Mighty Miss Walleye Series Hosting Two Regular Season Events & Championship

  • June 22nd: Mystery Tournament ??? (19 boat limit)
  • July 20th: Trempealeau, WI (Pools 6, 7, &8)
  • September 7th & 8th: 2013 MMWS Series Championship: LaCrosse, WI (Pools 7,8,&9)

YTD POINT STANDINGS

Tournament Format: Each MMWS Tournament will be a one day format, except for the September Championship which is a two day format. Anglers can pre-fish up to 5:00 p.m. the day before the event. The qualifying events all will be held on Saturdays.
Pre-Tournament Meeting: A mandatory pre-tournament rules meeting will be held on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. prior to the event. One team member must be present to register. The meeting location will be the event landing or at an alternative location in the event of inclement weather. Team registration, boat number designation, rule review, and questions will be taken at that time.
Participation and Eligibility: There will be no age limit; however an adult must accompany each person under the age of 18. Only two (2) persons will be allowed per boat. The tournament director(s) reserve the right to refuse any entrant. Full Field is limited to ONLY 50 teams. If the field fills, alternates will be placed on a waiting list in the order of entry received. SEE FLIGHT OUT ORDER in rules for important details.*
Application and Deadline: Entry fee deadline is Saturday at 5:00 p.m. the weekend prior to the event. Entries will be accepted up to 6 PM Friday at the pretournament meeting however after the Saturday deadline, a $50.00 additional late fee will apply to fish the event. A completed application by both team members must be signed and submitted (or have Saturday’s postmark) with payment in full at that time. Refunds will only be given up to the Saturday deadline as well with a $50 penalty to the team(s) not electing to fish. Reminder: 50 boat limit per event. All late fee money collected through the year will be applied to the Season Championship in LaCrosse.

2013 NWA Sherman Results 4-21-13

 100_1277The Nebraska Walleye Association held its first tournament of the 2013 calendar year at Sherman Reservoir on April 21, 2013.  There were 38 teams involved in this very cold affair.  The rules meeting was held on Saturday night at the Trade Winds Marina where all the teams gathered for a quick but effective meeting ran by Chuck Pavelka and Mike Means.  Continue reading

WMT & WT6 HOLD FIRST OHIO NTC SIDE POT

Morrison-RomanoWalleye Madness Tournaments (WMT) in conjunction with their official TWF Club WT6 (Walleye Team Six) held its first TWF NTC side pot event on April 21st at Mosquito Lake in north east Ohio. The tournament attracted 38 teams overall with 15 teams entered in the first of four NTC side pot tournaments slated to run in conjunction with the 2013 Walleye Madness Tournaments schedule.

“We’re excited to see the TWF concept and the new NTC side pot tournaments catch on” stated tournament director John Csizmadia. He added, “The side pot entries were slow at first, but once teams learned that someone would be winning a paid entry and bonuses to next year’s Cabela’s NTC, we wound up with 15 side pot entries and it attracted more teams overall to the tournament.” Continue reading
